I have a Shimano Triton G I use out in the gulf and was hoping to find a clicking reel suitable for fishing catfish in fresh water. So far I found one the ABU Garcia Ambassadeur Royal Express II Reel. Any suggestions?

I saw the Proangler reel last night at a pawn shop. They were trying to sell it for $100! I should go back and offer them $50

that shimano is a good reel for cattin' ... you din't say if you have the 100 or the 200 ... the 100 is about the same size as the abu 6000 & the 200 is about the same size as the 7000 ... i have a 200 on a long rod now for bank fishing but have had a couple of the 100's in the past ... usta talk to a james river bluecat guide that used these shimanos on his guide boat ... they are tuff reels but will not cast as well as an abu, but the abu's cost way more
also fished with a guide below the dam at livingston around 1998 & these shimano reels are all he used ... he could cast right up to the dam from his home made boat that had an upper deck casting platform
regards albertking catfishing is now an industry ... it's best for the industry to eat baby catfish

Yes the triton is 200G and I need an ounce on there to get it to let the line out. With a good weight I can cast it over 200 foot lol. I think Im gonna go with the abu garcia 6400

Any abu garcia 6000 (i.e. 6600, 6500, 6000) will have the clicker. The 6600c4, and 6600c3 are my favorites.

Until I can get some more work Im lookin at a budget of about $20 on the pole... I saw a good one on craigslist but the crazy lady wanted $100 for 5 old poles she found in a closet that have been there for 20 years. I called and offered her $20 for one of them. I am expecting a call back if she cant sell them.
