I have a 95 Ranger and the aerator is not working. I'm short on cash and wanted to know if it's a complicated process to replace the pump?

Not at all. Most of them just clip on. Are you sure its the pump thats out? Might just be the float switch. Check it first.

You fill flip it on the motor emits a funny odor...Kinda like I do after eating Mexican food . That's why I think the pump is or has burned up....

Big Joe8565, I don't have a Ranger, but I bet your pumps are Mayfair. You can get replacements at BPS. Just locate the pump and get the flow rate off of it and notice the input/output configuration. The aerator pump will be near the livewell since it basically recirculates the water. The fill pump will be in the bilge area, probably at the transom. I'd change both and the bilge pump while I was at it.
Newer pumps are cartridge type where all you have to replace is the motor/impeller. A bit easier than changing the whole thing. Either job is not hard at all.
Good luck!

The Mayfair pumps are great, especially the cannister types. Two wires and snap it in. Easy to change in those hard to reach areas where hose clamps and forcing rubber hose onto a ferrule would be a pain. They are not expensive, 25 bucks or so. Also, sometimes I have to prime mine, so whereas some people back their boat up to force water into the pump, I just unclip the cartridge and water enters, I clip it back and I am good to go.
