I was thinking about heading out there this weekend to do some crappie and bass fishing and I was just wondering if you could still get into hubbard creek from the main lake? Thanks in advance!

Unless you got a jon boat you prob cant launch at Peelers and don't think you can get into the creek from the main lake. I used my kayak right after Xmas when I went.

A Buddy and I were at the creek yesterday. I have a 14' aluminum V-hull. I put it in with my old subaru with no problems. Someone had just pulled out a big bass boat, but they had a 4x4 truck. The creek is not very deep now, but there are some good fish in there. I caught 1 keeper crappie and about a 4 lb Bass. My buddy caught 9 keeper crappie and 2 bass about the same size as mine.
There is a new young Game Warden there and he is really conscientious about his job. Make sure you have all the safety devices on your boat and NO undersized fish, and make sure your fire extinguisher is good (if required on your boat).
I was talking to him last night and he stated that the bass seem to be hitting very well. He said someone on the pier caught 1 16", we had three good ones and the people on the boat he had just checked had 1 12". I said I thought that bass had to be 14" and he said, "yeah, that was what the problem was". They got a ticket.
For the last week he has been out there every time I have. Need any more info let me know, maybe I can help. Was suppose to go back today, but Buddy stood me up.

Never been to hubbard creek. Have thought about it but don't wanna take chances on putting a boat in and la mancha is dang near in my back yard. I gotta go to breckinridge soon and if someone that knows the lake could lead me in the right direction as I won't have boat with me. Is there any public docks that produce and could I access the creek by foot and fish it. How wide is the creek channel that is producing fish? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Are air boats legal at Hubbard creek? I have not heard of restrictions on air boats there, so I would say yes. I do know of a spot upstream from the ramp that only an air boat could get through right now. There are actually three ramps that are currently being used. The one by the dam, The one on Hubbard Creek, (I have seen some large bass boats and a pontoon boat being put in there), and there is a low water ramp at the west end of the bridge, on the north side. (between the bridge and Sandy Creek Marina) It is a strange ramp. Half of it is on the bank and half of it is floating. As you back your boat out the half in the water will submerge. The creek is about 40 - 50' wide. Saturday a friend and I caught 10 keeper crappie and three bass around 4lb ea. JIM

The creeks are still muddy from all the rain we received this week. They are catching some big catfish, but unkown about the crappie this week. You can lauch at peelers peir just fine. Since last winter, they have redone the boat ramp. If you need help with anything just call up here at the bait shop and Jason has all the daily fishing tips...We'll try to help anyway we can if you are crappie fishin here.. we have all the slab buster colors, whats hot is the electric chicken!!!
