I have been reading about this topic and it is interesting....But I have seen very few fishing catamarans for lakes and bays...

Just wanted other opinions.....

Here is one of the articles on this type of hull,

and this is one of the boats I have requested a test drive on...

Looks like what used to be called a tunnel hull. I had a friend years ago that had a tunnel hull ski boat. They are the best riding boat you can buy for rough water. I don't know why, but that was the best riding boat in rough water I have ever been in.

fastcat makes a good bass boat too. It's wider but lighter. They handle rough water better, at least thats what

FastCat at a Top Speed: 80.7 mph!

I don't need to get to my fishing hole that quick...However, I might be able to get close to catching a Allison or fast bass boat on open water...I cannot imagine going that fast on water!

I know that Allisons can go faster...

STROKER 21 boats can go over 100MPH!!

I don't mean to brag but Allison holds the bass boat speed record of 118 mph. A 280 hp Allison will easily top 100 mph.

My 150 is at 70mph and with lower water pickup and proper propeller it should do close to 75. All that in a 20'3" boat. Thats with a two people and tackle. I know of one that is doing 84.7 with a 150 but I'm sure thats with little tackle and maybe no trolling motor.

No bragging....I was reading info on this website:
http://www.screamandfly.com/home/

....
When this post started, I was just at the differences in "V" versus catamaran hulls, for stability and performance. Then I took it to the next level with speed. I know that offshore racing boats are both...Just interesting reading...

Thanks for your input....

I was watching this wmv file (13MB)...about traveling 155MPH....the cameraman had to sit and look backwards....you can actually hear the motor pitch change when hitting faster mph's....I was doing the math, and at 155mph, I can travel from Austin to Hillsboro in 1 hour...or Austin to south of Waco in under 30 minutes...Just add wings to the boat, you can have lift off!

and other video clips...

Sorry to drag this posting out...no pun intended
