Hi everyone. I checked out Dunlap today as well, and sadly, saw the fish remains that the earlier post referenced.

I don't post comments lightly. I've been a member of this forum for years, and have rarely, if ever, posted a comment.

The resource is precious, people. If you had seen what I have in Minnesota and elsewhere, you would not take the small species for granted. I can recall small Northerns (Pike) being a nuisance on Cass Lake when I was a child and my Dad was after Musky. Not anymore, they are as tough to get as the muskies.
Then it was the Walleyes. Decimated by over-fishing on many lakes in the area. Finally, the lowly yellow perch became the prime target of the meat fisherman because the walleyes were so hard to find. I vividly remember the father-in-law of the Lodge owner where we stayed filling buckets full of them every day.
Not anymore. The only species that is thriving in Cass now is the Musky. They are protected to 48", almost universally released anyway, and thrive on baitfish that are immune to fishing pressure like suckers, ciscos, and whitefish.

I hope you're right. 2011 was the first year. I can't believe I caught so many Rios this far north. With any luck some of them will get big this summer, if they're still around.

I love the way the Rios here "slam" the bait.

As long as we keep getting rain and the rest of the winter stays on the mild side there should be Rios everywhere from North Austin to Corpus Christi! banana

Not from north Austin, it's now N. Georgetown. The San Gabriel had plenty of them last year.

L. Georgetown and Granger L. are now Rio Fisheries.
