I've been off the board for a while. Not been able to fish. In fact, my boat has been put up since last November with a full tank of gas. Since I didn't treat it with stabilizer (didn't know it would sit up so long), would the gas still be good? I tried but could not siphon it out through the gas cap. Can I remove the fitting at the top of the tank and siphon through there? Can I use the gas for something else? There's more than 20 gallons. If not, where can I dispose of it? Thanks for listening.

Take the plug loose form the motor and pump the bulb it will create a siphon, do not use old gas in the outboard.

I bought a boat hull for restoration that had about 5 gallons of gas left in the tank. I went to Autozone and bought a $12 hand operated pump. I removed the squeeze bulb from the gas line and attached the pump there and pumped out the gas into several plastic containers. I then filled up a large metal pan and left it in the sun and let the gas evaporate. Kept filling up the pan every morning until it was all gone.

I use an additive called Pri-G (available at Academy Sports), it's a direvative of a commercial grade fuel treatment product and claims to restore old gas, check their FAQ page. I use it in a jon boat that sometimes sets for over a year and always fires right up when I do get around to using it. http://www.priproducts.com/prigproduct.htm

Thanks for the replies. Turns out there's 25 gallons rather than 20.
Hate to lose $50 of gas but it's better than an expensive repair bill. Marcos's suggestion of using Pri-G sounds interesting but would like to hear more testimonials. Will look into this before I just let the gas evaporate.

I also use pri-g in my center console that has a 150 Yamaha on it, but I'm adding fresh gas to it about once a month. Personally I'd probably treat the gas that's in the tank, but if your motor is carbed you might want to clean them out.

the gas is problably fine. If it smells funny or like varnish I would get rid of it. Worse case cenario is that the carbs are gummed up a bit. Ive had boats, four wheelers etc that have sat over a year and they were fine.

I had to siphon gas out of my boat this year, a little over 20 gallons. Acutally just put it in my truck as those engines are a lot more tolerable to gas problems than outboards. One thing I did look at is getting a 30 gallon barrel from a feed store and pumping it into there. Had a Goodyear store that would dispose of it for me with their other wastes. Those little hand pump siphons work but not great. My boat dealership let me borrow a fuel pump from them to get the gas out.

I believe if it was me, the gas would be put into my truck, at about 3-4 gallons per tankful, 'specially at todays prices!!
