The north end has very little but yet every tournament claims success from the same technique....on top of grass in 6-8' at the north end of the lake.

Where?? Maybe my definition of north end is different than everyone else's?

No body gonna give up the goods on this lake. It is like a secret society of mimes. I dont know about north but here are some creeks that usually have grass in them
Veech
Harvey
Coleman
Norris
Five fingers
Buck
Some usually around 147 bridge

Hope this helps
Fyi if i dissappear that means the tightlip society lynched me

5 Fingers, Norris, Coleman, Veach, Harvey, Bridge Flats, Caney, Black Forest and Mud. Lot's of water to cover, lot's of grass in 3-10 feet.

With that said, I offer this. The fish haven't left the areas that traditionally have grass. Case in point. 2 weeks ago I had one of my best days this winter by accident. Planned on launching at Twin Dikes and heading up to the areas mentioned above and Trap/C-Rig the grass. Fog was horrendous so I decide to stay south until it lifted. Went over to Needmore to dropshot some deeper ledges. On a whim, I idled into drain that is usually loaded with grass and very dependable. Saw some bait working in the drain. Fished a chartreuse Bandit Squarebill and a slow rolled Houdini Skinny Dipper and absolutely smoked em. 2-8 feet of water. Not a sprig of grass anywhere. Fished that pattern in Buck Bay and Farmers and didn't have to make the run up north and burn gas.

All the fish don't migrate miles to where the grass is. You may just have to change your presentation to catch them.

Thanks for the replies. It's definitely not in the traditional places where it's been for years. A man's gotta go cover some water and look for it!

I'll report back Monday with my findings.

---not a tight lipped fisherman. Come to think about, not sure I'm a fisherman - I just fish.
