The dealer does not have any idea what is wrong. On two different outings the bendix continued spinning while the motor is running and when it is turned off. The bendix was spinning but the fly wheel was not engaged.

During the last outing the bendix started spinning on it's own with the key off and engaged the fly wheel after the boat was loaded. It is an intermitent problem.

Anyone have an idea of the cause of the problem or has anyone experienced the problem?

Thanks for any help in advance.

One of two problems;
1st the key switch is shorting out or not traveling back to the run position
2nd the starter solenoid is sticking.
In order for the starter to activate, it must get power to the solenoid. Without power to the solenoid the starter can't run.
