chuck tx- the park is the only place i could find em and i asked all those little shops right before the dam..

bottom dweller- we were fishing on a guess you would call a ledge? it went from 20 ft and went to about 6.. what was crazy is we accidently got into those white bass.. we put in at martin dies and we were comin back to the ramp about 5 20.. there were already 5 boats waintin to load up so we ran right out of the there to rush creek and caught those 7 white bass

Hitman- were you fishing what they call twin lakes? and yeah i noticed if you get out of the river at all in some places it can be 2-4 feet deep!

aggiegolfer- gonna have to try that lure out.. and this is my first time to fish with the water so cold..

I was fishing on the main river, the outside bend of the first big curve after the Neches and Angelina fork. There's a ledge there that drops from 9 ft to 20 feet pretty sharply... they were stacked up all along that ledge. There is a small lake entrance right there, and then another one a few hundred more yards up the river. I think the one a few hundred more yards up the river is called "Bee Tree Slough".

Chuck, I just got online and looked up one of the mapping websites and printed off topo maps for Dam B. They're not as good as having a big nice map, but they do the trick for me, on a lake as small as Steinhagen. I've never seen anything like a Hook-N-Line map for it. If you have an Android phone or iPhone, get the Navionics app for $10-$14... it has Dam B on there.

There is a group of guys who put on a bass tournament out of Martin Dies off hwy 190 every tuesday evening at 5:00pm entry fee is $15 plus $5 for big bass per person (so $30 a team plus $5 each team member for big bass). They had an 8lb fish get big bass a few weeks ago. The winning stringer is usuall around 8-12lbs for 3 fish. If anyone is interested contact me and I can give you the tournament directors phone number. We usually have only 5 or 6 teams each week but there are 15 total that fish it just not all show up every week.

I usually catch 40-50 a trip bass fishing in the warmer months.

Topwaters till about 10 am or so, spinnerbaits and cranks after that with some plastics (flukes, trick worms and shakey heads) after the spinner bait bite dies down.

Usually you can find some bass schooling somewhere at all times. It's kind of funny topwater fishing though, as most of the best fishing I've done on poppers is from about 30 mins after fishable daylight to 10 am. Some lakes you get first 30 mins and nothing else.

This is all if they aren't generating...if they are, cranks spinnerbaits and the trick worms are even more effective, particularly the spinnerbaits.

And it's a place where I've done well catching "larger" largemouth (2+) on a spinnerbait in the super clear water with the sun beaming straight down on where I'm fishing in the middle of summer.

Definitely a neat little fishery. Also one of the only places I know in east texas that has a good redbreast sunfish fishery.

and I will definitely have an Alabama rig tied on for the next time I go there...

I am interested in this. Isn't the Angelina river the branch that heads northeast from B. A. Steinhagen? Where is 64? Do you mean 63?

You can put in at the 63 bridge (between Jasper and Zavalla) on the Angelina river. or you can turn and go to Belvaport and put in further down the Angelina River. If you go far enough DOWN river you will meet the intersection of the Neches river and merge to continue in to the north end of Dam B.

Fish it and the Angelina all the time. I do better when not generating. I throw trigs, wacky worm, topwater, frogs, spinnerbaits.I put in at bevilport a lot.

Went yesterday. No water coming out of dam, so no current, so very few LMB.
