I am in Abilene Texas and I want to get into hunting the big BLUES. What type of gear should I get for bank fishing. I will be mostly fishing Kirby Lake and Ft. Phantom.

Surf rods are rod of choice for bank fishing.Sometimes you have to cast a long distance and a 8-12 foot rod will give you the ability to do that. Not to mention that the longer rods give you more control over a big fish. You will also need 2-6 ounce weights depending on wind and line weight.Use line no lighter than 20 pound and leaders between 30-50 pound.Hooks should be between 5/0 and 8/0 circle or whatever your comfortable using. That covers the basics and if you need any detailed info jus shoot me a PM.There will be alot of people to chime in here soon and they will have alot of good info also.Good Luck!!!

Jim pretty much covered it, all you'll need is some pvc and rebar rod holders and you're good to go

Possibly some waders depending on where you fish

Rods and reels are a tough one to suggest!Your budget is going to be the deciding factor there.Spinning reels are easier to cast but Baitcasters cast further.Buy what you can afford!!!If you find something you like, before you buy it,just post your choices and you will get many replies, good and bad!

I was thinking about buying like 2 of the proangler rods but I didnt know if they were better for boating instead of banking. I have an Academy near me and I was going to check there for a 8-12 ft rod. As far as budget goes I can spend about 100-125 for a rig. So going off that amount any suggestions?

And a dock cart or waggon to haul things to the waters edge. That way you don't have to carry it and you can make just one trip.

BPS power plus surf rods are what I use. No complaints here...24.99-29.99
Rod holders can be made out of PVC and rebar and a couple of clamps or duct tape!
Good luck

You prefer spinning or Baitcast? If u plan on buying more than one at a time then may be worth the drive into DFW...... I have 3 of the 10' ProAngler rods with spinning reels- I really like them. I also have 8 other various spinning combos in different brands and price ranges.....depends on your budget. Baitcast: Can't go wrong with a ProAngler Combo - $100 for both rod/reel Spinning: ProAngler with best reel u can afford or Click Here-Best Deal for Price - can get 8' or 10'
