Hey y'all I'm new to this forum and wanted to introduce myself real quick, my name is Jake. I've been struggling to find crappie on phantom and was just curious if anyone could point me in the right direction. Ill be there this weekend and would like to have a good starting point. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Are you in a boat or banking it?

It's been tough lately. There's a brush pile just North of the crappie house that's holding a few fish, and the dock at the red house in between spillway and sailboat usually has a few.

Didnt know you could use Charlottes's Cove since it had for sale sign. Good to know, but guess it doesnt help if there is no fish there.

I didnt know it was forsale but the drought really hurt the fishing there. Last year I racked up out there during the winter time. Pretty dissappointing out there now.

Get a lake map. Directly to the east of sailboat point is a dock coming out from what we call the "red house" and I talked to a guy who said he sinks 50 christmas trees around it every year. It's kind of a well known spot but it usually produces. I haven't fished it this year yet. The crappie dock is enclosed and sits in 25 ft of water. I dont know if it's any good. The lake is very low and a lot of the spots I fish are high and dry for spring so you had better pray for rain. If we can catch 6 ft of water I have some really good places. The lake bottom is slick mud in most places so if you can find any structure that is still under water (like the old discharge) you might find fish. Don't rule out lake Kirby for crappie either.

If you really want to catch Crappie out at Ft. Phantom or any lakes around there, go to Pappa Johns Pizza go to the game room and ask for William Hill or Bill,he can tell or show you the in and out of the area lakes there. We used to go fishing when I lived in Abilene 1999-2000,his ol buddy Jay Stevens is a good go to guy also. Bill is the guy who fixes all the games and keeps everything going in there,it has been ten years but Abilene ..huuum, I am sure he is still there.

My dad used to walk the banks of creeks that were near Phantom. He also had several spots on the Brazos that he would walk to jig for crappie.

Check Texas Parks and Wildlife facebook page, They have a few spots marked. Also said they have been finding lots out at the state park? (Buffalo Gap) over 2 lbs. Im not sure where you would put a boat in there.
