My brother and I were on our way to RollOver Pass today and stopped for gas. We saw a man with rods sticking out of his car window and asked him where he fished. He said that he had been to Anahuac today and did pretty good.
We wound up at Fort Anahuac Park and fished on the small pier. We caught 4 Flounders, 3 keepers. 2 Black Drum, 1 keeper and 14 Redfish, 3 keepers. All of these were caught in about 35 minutes. Next 2 hours not even a bite. Flounders and 3 Reds caught on Gulp, all others on fresh dead shrimp.

Daytime or night? Was water moving? I've seen it many times and wondered if fishing was good. Any more details would be appreciated.

We were there from about 10:30 am until about 1:45 pm. Don't really know whether the water was moving or not other that being really choppy with a strong wind blowing.
We spoke to 2 men that were leaving as we got there that told us that the best time to fish on the pier as at night when the lights are on and when there is little or no wind. They said that they live in Anahuac and fish there daily and catch something 90% of the time and only use artificials. Did not elaborate. They said that they got a few, but did not specify what.
I will try again one day next week, probably at night and hopefully not as windy.

My uncle has been fishing there for fifty years. I dont think its a secret? When the fish are on, Anahuac Pocket up to the pier can be some good fishing. Most people just drive on by it in there boats. My uncle launches and fished the shore line.

Where do you get bait in that area? I have taken that route going to Rollover a couple of times and have not seen a bait shop worth purchasing from.

I usually try to cath my own bait. Last time out I caught all I wanted with the cast net off of the boat launch. There is a little bait shop off the road before you get to anahuac, not sure what its called.
