Moved to the Valley about 5 months ago, from East Texas. Live only about hour from Falcon but thinking about Coleto even though its 2.5 hours away at least while its winter. Never seen the lake, what kinda pressure does it have right now, size, ease of running, places to stay, water temp, any info is more than I know.

Stay at Falcon go to Coleto around April or May t water bite will be good then and you catch a lot of fish those months. The lake is easy to run it's small but a fun lake to fish.

Yea, I looked it up says to be 3100 acres, will defenitly hit it in April and May love a top water bite. Just looking for different options down here. In East Texas always had 10 or more lakes within a 90 min drive from my house. Got used to seeing new water and doing different things to catch a fish. Falcon is the best fishery I have ever been on, and I love to be there, but there is just something about going to a different lakes every now and then, seeing different country, different patterns, learning new water.

I fished lots of tournaments back home, may just be me, but I never really liked the clubs/circuits that always went to same lake.

Ramps available, good bad? water level.

I beleive they are generating again, but could be wrong. The ramp should be good. The federation was there last weekend and i think it took soemwhere in the high teens for first place. There are alot of small fish in coleto, but there are some nice ones as well. Just have to cover alot of water. Flukes, traps, and topwaters have done me well over the years out there.

I think generating is mainly a winter thing, in the discharge areas.
It's about 2 1/2' low right now, but unless it drops a lot more, that's o.k.

Might try Choke Canyon as well being from East Tx you will love it a lot like Rayburn bunch of grass and trees plus it has a lot of pond dams and river channels. I like fishing the river on 99 fishing North flipping the Islands with steep drop off. That lake fires up good in Feb or March good chance at some toads.

Coleto is a good numbers lake, usually shallow fish, good topwater. Lots of grass. It ought to be on fire in the next 2 weeks. Plant is generating.
