My son and I are thinking about making our first trip to Falcon in the next few months, so looking for inputs from TFFers that are experienced there. Probably would be a 3 - 4 day trip.

1. Need recommendations on best places to stay.

2. We'd likely hire a guide for at least the first day, maybe multiple days, so need guide recommendations also.

3. Given a Feb. - May window what period would typically be the best time?

Thx much for any help offered.

C.

all kinds of posts that talk about this.

Holliday Inn, Sunbridge, Oso Blanco- in that order

Guides- Jim Behenkin, Jim Edwards, Tommy Law are the first that come to my mind.

They all live down there, so they would be the best judge to tell you on time of year to come down there.

Holiday Inn Sunbridge and Oso Blanco are all good suggestions I'd look into Best Western as well they have a free breakfast

Best time to go....I'd say that depends on the person. I like right now because I love jig fishing shallow but the guides will tell you summer is excellent because the fish stack up on spots. Right now the fish are more spread out.

Guides.....all the guides listed are good from what i hear but you might try Charlie Haralson if he's not working. You can PM him here on this site or call the tackle shops in Zapata.

Go to the Falcon Lake and Tackle web site and it will give you the names of most of the guides and list of Motels. I like Sunbridge or Best Western. Guides Jim Edwards and Charlie Haralson but I don't think Charlie Haralson is still in the guide business. They are the only ones I have used and both were very good.

I think I went to Falcon 9 times last year. The absolute best trip was the last weekend of April. I don't know if that will hold true again this year, but I will probably be there hoping it repeats. We caught 235 over 2 1/2 days for four people. 130 were on one day. I still think about how much fun that trip was. Good luck to you no matter when you go.

PM me before you go and I'll tell you where we usually catch most of our fish.
