You need a manual! Some of the small Merc Motors can give more problems when changing the water pump impeller than the big motors.

I got the parts diagram when purchased the impeller. This one looks like the vid. but must make sure the shaft does not touch the housing when reassembling.

It's easy. Mine was all metric nuts/bolts.

I started on it today and (gary purdy) may be correct on the manual. I can't find a way to disconnect the shift rod. It is one piece with no linkage nuts to separate it. I need some advise on that if you can. I really don't want to have to buy a manual as I'm selling this boat.
Thanks

Try looking up your motor on iboats.com or boats.net. They have exploded diagrams on there for ordering parts. If you can't find it there I'd google it.

some of those 25s have a small clip under the carb like the J/E's did.

I think you had to remove the starter(if its electric start) to get to it if memory serves me correctly

That looks like what it might be. I'll try it.

Thank so much for your help, I see your add. and know you are a busy person and don't have to spend time with me. I am a bit slow on this but feel like I'm close to understanding.

I flipped up the little clip and tried to pull that center pin but it didn't move. Do I need to apply more force or do I remove the round notched thingie.
Thanks again for your time.
