Was fishing yesterday but have seen this before. Guys will start catching fish. Almost always whatever anyone catches goes in their livewell. Regs say whites 10" min. and hybrids 18" min. I'm pretty sure most I have seen are not taking time to look for tounge patches to identify the two different species. Wondering???

Fishing is not a matter of life or death,
it's much more important than that!

What's to worry about ? The story of mankind involves someone breaking the rules.
Get the number of your local G.W. and if you are sure this is happening and will continue long enough for the G.W. to
get there then give him a ring.
Be very very sure. It could get messy for you.

Sorry about that.
That first sentence should read
"What's to wonder about ?"

It gets pretty easy to tell which is which after you compare them side by side a few times. It also gets pretty easy to guess the length without having to measure each one.

Sort of like threadfins and gizzard shad. They are similar, but if you look at two the same size there are things that are different enough that you can tell at a glance once you learn them.

Tooth patches are not reliable.Broken stripes mean nothing.

On Palestine , you can tell by the stripes. Hybrid's stripes
are thicker , blacker. Very easy to see side by side.

Not many hybrids in Palestine the size of sandbass, right now. Have not seen or caught any of the last stocking, which, I'm guessing would be 6-inches, if they survived.

Just my thoughts, and wouldn't keep any fish out of Palestine smile
