I caught one real nice keeper today by luck. I noticed about a 1000 boats out in the main lake. I am assuming they were crappie fishing. Does anyone have any pointers for Pines this time of year?

Yes, major crappie area. Crappie fisherman and bass fisherman got into last spring. Crappie fisherman was arrested from what I heard.

It was crazy...boats everywhere, I live 15 minutes from Fork and went to Pines to avoid crowds, lesson learned. I graphed the mainlake points and there were hugh schools of shad with fish around them. I guess they were crappie. I tried everything (drop shot, spoons, football jigs, c rig, t rig, crankbait) and nothing. I should have tried crappie jigs. Still enjoyed the day and learned a little bit more about the lake.

The north end is closed until the lake comes up.

That's funny... I put in at cedar springs yesterday and fished all the way to Lone Star. No one told me it was closed.

Yep the North End is closed due to low water and safety reasons.

Well they're not doing a very good job of closing it... The parking lot was full and I saw at least 20 other boats all along the river.

You would think if it was closed they would block off the road to the ramp or something...

I call bs on it actually being "closed"

I bit, I just checked the Core website and all it had on there were the same ramps that have been closed for a while. Where is the information at about it being closed?

I fished the north end all day today. Only caught 5 all day. I would say the bite was slow or I just can't fish. The PVC markers helped a lot past the poles. The bass I caught were all keepers and I only had to use my push pole one time. Not bad for a days fishing.
