I'm looking for a saltwater fishing boat, something in the 25' range. I am very interested in the catamaran style boats. The two companies i'm looking at right now are www.twinvee.net and www.worldclasscat.com thanks ------------------

skav, If you don't find much here I would go to http://www.thehulltruth.com There is tons of info on this site especially about larger boats. I am in the market for 20' + bay boat and the reading there can go on for hours. Good luck

I don't know from personal experience but, have always heard that the cat boats are a good choice for the Gulf.
They take less h.p. to push which is more ecconomical on fuel, offer a stable platform to fish from and have a smooth ride to a point.
I say to a point because they are smoother until the waves become very large, large enough for the cat hulls (sponsons?)to bottom out. At that point, it is like being in a flat bottom boat. However, that isn't until you get to the 8 foot range with a very short frequency.
If I was in the market, I would be looking at a SeaCat or the like.

Skavatar,
I have ridden in both the 19' TwinVee and in the 22' Weekender.
I was MUCH more impressed with the 22' boat then the 19' boat. It seems like the 19' was just a little bit too light to take a good chop. I was out in 3' waves though, so anything would've been a little rough. It would've been a very dry boat if it wasn't for a 30mph direct wind. Overall, the boat was very nice though, and performed as good as any of the V-hulls would have. It also runs very shallow.
As for the 22, much different boat. It is heavier, which helps with the pounding a LOT. IT was much smoother, much quieter, and would've been dryer in the same situation.
I'd imagine that if you bump up to the 26' model, you will be even more impressed with the ride.
Don't forget the fact that it takes less to push them, and they offer a lot of room. I don't own one, but I probably would if I had enough years on the credit bureau to finance a brand new boat (5yrs required, i've got 2.5, oh well!). So, I'm sticking with a used one for now...
Talk to Doug Norrell at Little Bay Marine in Rockport, TX. Good prices and great guys. They have a 19' they will take you out on without any questions to show you the ride. The 19' doesn't ride half as well as the larger ones..keep that in mind
Good luck! Shawn
