Here is the story. See if the collective knowledge of the TFF can help me on this one. My dad recently bought a boat from Cabelas and brought it to Ray Roberts Marina and after about two weeks he decided he cannot use it due to health issues. Anyway one of my best friends wants to buy it from my dad and has the credit union set up with financing available but they won't do it w/o the title. My dad paid cash for the boat and Cabelas drug their feet getting the boat titled. We found out today it was just turned in today! So my question is how can we get my friends bank to fund the boat w/o the title while in transit? The title will take 4 to 6 weeks but that is over half of the remaining part of summer. My parents don't want to turn loose of the boat with it in their name due to liability reasons. Any ideas.
PS Cabelas is a bunch of morons. I will post that whole story in a separate post.
I feel more like I do now than I did when I first got here!

If boat is sold with bill of sale and buyer-seller agreement with title transfer pending signed by both parties and notarized, your parents wo`nt be liable. Saw this 2 years ago on tax`s. Get copy of title application. Tell freind to get 90 day note to pay for boat then set up bank note on payments when title arrives. This is backwards for me. I would`nt buy a boat without title in hand. Once a boat is sold and you have dated proof of sale your liability ends except for supplying a clean title. Good Luck

thanks I wouldn't buy a boat w/o title either except this is among very close friends. He just doesn't want to wait the 4 to 6 weeks to get the title as this is over half of the remaining summer.
