I would like to hook up with someone who knows the Jungle area at Livingston. I used to fish the upper end of the lake alot many years ago before the storm wiped out most everything above the water line. I have not been in there in a very long time and am not all that thrilled about blindly venturing into that mindfield. I would like to take a trip in there and would appriciate anyone who could share any knowledge they have about any river channel markers headed north above the 190, general fishability of the Jungle and entry into the Jungle area itself. Thanks in advance.

Yea, I know what you mean. I'm not sure there is any good or smart way to run the area, I would just like to tip-toe in there with DSI to see just how fishy it is back in there now. 30 years ago it was one bonified black bass nestification. I have to believe that there is very little pressure on that area of the lake for the same reason you describe and it makes me want to get in there all the more.

A lot has changed in 30 years. The jungle has silted up pretty badly. The biggest danger now is running aground.

I run from 190 up to white rock all the time..stay in the markers and you will be fine minus floaters. After all this rain there will be floaters gurantee it. We hit two Saturday in river channel. And as of today Livingston was down 1 foot. But it is still rising. It jumped a foot half in a week. Here is a good website to watch lake levels.

Also as a very needed side note. Between the 190 bridge and palmetto the red markers are actuallly about 30 yards inside the timber so hug more towards the green markers or u will tear your boat up. Ive seen it happen more than once.

Not a problem. I fish Livingston typically three days a week so I stay pretty well into the lake level and dam flow to watch current patterns

Are you talking about into the main lake or up the creek? I fish livingston regularly and it isn't a place you wanna play around with on running. There are a lot of stumps just under the water. Idle a trail on your GPS and stick to it....closely.

You can run pretty easy past White Rock up to the Thomas Lake area. You just have to be careful just before you get into the river part so you don't make a wrong turn. Once you get into the river, it is easy, you just have to be mindful of floaters and skiers. I have run far enough north up the river that where I was fishing wasn't even on the lake map.

I got a hold of one in the river Saturday. I can't imagine what it is going to be like this weekend.
