Well this morning mamas says to me lets go fishing, I said sure, I loaded the boat and off we went, stopped to get some minners incase we ran into some crappie and to the lake we go.

We were headed to Sardis Lake which is near Oxford, MS. well when we crest the hill to the launch, I couldnt believe what I saw. Ramps were High and Dry. Sardis is a Flood Control lake and they have dropped it almost 60 Feet. That makes the main lake channel around 12 foot deep. Made an hour drive for nothing, headed back home and watched Football.

So with Fork being 7 foot low, you will never hear me complain about that.

fished there one weekend year for 4 years (ex-wife's family reunion), i loved that lake, caught some of the biggest crappie i have ever caught out of that lake. sad to hear it being that low!

Head over to Weiss in Bama, I seen a guy have 10 crappie in his cooler that ill bet averaged 2.5 to 3 lbs each. never seen that many big crappie at one time.

Grew up hunting and fishing Sardis. Remember them dropping it every year but not that much. Where were you trying to launch?

I saw that lake once. My cousin went to ole miss, didnt fish though, partied at the grove!

dang that sucks, What did you end up doing with the minners lol. Dont worry I fished all day saturday and didnt catch a damn thing.

The only ramp that had any water on it was Engineer Point, but there was only about 2 foot of that ramp in the water with a HUGH drop off.

I gave the minners to guys fishing the spillway

Papamark, cut my teeth on Sardis. They drop it about 30ft every year starting Sept 1st. This time of year there is great fishing way up the river. you have to launch at wyatts crossing. Fish the bends were the ditches run into it. The crappie fish is great also. Next time I'm in Memphis, I'll drop by and pick up some spinner baits. If you need someone on your staff that's from their, but lives here in N. Texas, I'm your man. Shoot me a PM if interested. I can get the word out about your baits, you might even know me from the '80s. Fished many tournaments in the area then. Definitely, go down to wyatts, grab some spinner baits (Colorado or Indiana blades and black/blue jigs and hang on. Not big numbers, but quality.............Joe Chandler
