Made it to Amistad over the new year. Saturday from about 10:30 to 2:00 were in a slow bite marking lots of fish.

6 fish total between 6 and 11 pounds. All caught on live bait (salty's since I have a hard time gettin shad in that clear water) in 60-70 foot of water with shallow water nearby (islands) up the devils river close to the main lake(San Pedro).

Try to post some pics later that I took with cell phone.

Sunday North wind marked a few scattered fish all had lock-jaw.

Did catch 2-4 lb blacks both days...... lots of the green trash fish in that lake.

Due to its location and seclusion from society I think Amistad may be a trophy striper sleeper lake. I have a client that goes out and rents a houseboat every year and he brings back pictures of huge stripers every year in the 15-20lb range.

I don't think so on Amistad due to the amount of the lake surrounded by Federal land. I haven't heard any reports anyways. I am going to make a trip down there this sprin ot early summer for 3-4 days thats for sure.

Good Luck and keep us posted.

Also my brother talked to a guy on the dock that said his friends also got into 'em for about 3 hours near the springs.

I have heard about the springs before and believe it to be indian springs near indian cliff up the Devil's River.

I have not heard of any issues from the border. I see way more border patrol boats than game wardens. Remember we have a base in Del Rio.

Why do you think that all of the Texas top fifty were in the late 80's and 90's?

Only a couple of dates on that page that start with 20??

Thanks Guru.

Scalebuster a Salty is a blacksalty... http://www.blacksalty.com/
They are basically black and silver godfish that work well where shad are hard to get.
