Welcome dude. Fishing is awesome. Read all you can and learn from guys you meet, esp the older guys. One thing about fisherman is they are open to help someone new get into the sport.
Welcome to the TFF and good luck!

Tallbus I hope you all the best with your fishing adaventures.
tallbus and Bassinboy01
Both of you portray the reason we got into making lures and want to give you a reason to go back fishing.
I would like to give both of you each two bags of our baits to try. Go to the link below choose one of each style in whichever color you would like and PM me your choices and an address. That is a great jesture. Nice website looks like you have some good looking baits and some good prices.

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Here is what I would do if I were you: Go with some one on here. I have been fishing my entire life (30 years old) but it wasn't until I went with Troy on here that my true education began. I have always caught fish and done well, but I went with Troy one time and learned so much.
There are always people on here willing to take someone new. I think there might even be a forum for that.

Oh, and good luck and tight lines buddy. You just stumbled on to a hobby that will cost you a lot of money and probably a marriage or two, but its well worth it my friend.

So I'm going to be heading to Academy this weekend. I'm for sure getting an H20 Express reel, what kind of rod should I pick up? Keep in mind that my first time fishing I'm probably going to use live lure, but after that will probably stick to plastic baits.

Careful! Many lustrums ago I asked my girlfriend if she would like to go fishing. It turned out she knew quite a bit about it,....she even caught walleye where I didn't know they existied (Elephant Butte NM). Needless to say, she was a "keeper".
Need to improve my LMB fishing, running out of time.
