Anyone been fishing Gibbons lately if so how is the fishing? Has the plant been generating? I'm planning on making a trip there this weekend and would appreciate any advise. I have read where the ramp is somewhat hazardous. Is it safe to launch 20' boat?

BassColonel posted in the other thread that it looked like it was up slightly last Saturday and was able to use the ramp.

I'm interested in any other opinions or insight too, since I'm on the fence about heading out there Saturday morning.

I'm looking for a backseat on Saturday to Gibbons, Fayette or Bastrop. I had a new driveway poured yesterday and I cant drive on it until later next week so my boat is stuck in the garage. I was out there last Sat and was able to get in and out ok with my 18ft boat. There were several other big boats out there so I assume they got in/out ok. The fishing was definitely slow but you never know, they might be biting tomorrow!

It was great having you in the boat. I learned a lot, even if we didn't get any bites.

Went to Gibbons today. Our bass club had a tourney. Some guys didn't catch anything or even get a bite. Then others had a limit. We mark any fish on a board over 14" and limit is 5. No problems getting boats in or out of the ramp. I caught 1 fish over 14.

The Gibbons plant folks have been helping the launch ramp out by clearing the sand accumulations so we don't have to back so far out to get into the deeper water.

Went out yesterday. Ramp was fine. I saw all that sand off to the side. Hopefully we keep getting rain.

I was there from about 1 to 4pm. Caught 2 bass, one was about 3 pounds. Both were near stumps in water 2-3 feet but close to deeper water. Caught both on a brush-hog. Water was 62-63 degrees.

Went yesterday afternoon. No fish. Tried multiple spots, baits, and depths. Water was 60 degrees.

I got 6 bites this morning but only got two in the boat before the wind starting howling. Biggest was 3 lbs but lost one that was probably closer to 4. All were in less than 2 feet of water. Water temp was 58-60 this morning.

Went this afternoon from 2:30 to 5:30. Not one bite. Wind was tough. Fished Plum Creek, trees on the right approaching the discharge from the lake, north & east side of island in front of ramp, trees on east shore in front of ramp, rock shoal in front of spillway, rocky point west of spillway and east bank of cold water intake. Temp ranged from 58 to 64. Very little activity. Only fish I saw caought were a couple of 8" catfish by some bank fishermen. Tough day, but it still beats working.

After only catching three this morning on Conroe, I decided to try Gibbons this afternoon with a good friend. Sure glad he said yes, because I was blessed with an 8.4 on carolina rig and 4.4 on crankbait. The bite for us was better than what it has been here recently, but still few and far between. Dave

Sounds like Sunday was better than Saturday. I think they're moving up in the shallow water when during the warmest part of the day.
