Has anyone every tried sinking old artificial Christmas tree that people no longer want?
The advantage I see is less mess in your boat taking it to the location and it would last forever..no rotting.

The only problem I see is getting caught sinking natural vegitation is probably a slap on the hand compared to littering the lake with plastic...but would probably work....

I'm not sure I like the idea. Most have twisted metal "limbs". Is there any lead in those? I don't know how to find out. Plus it just seems wrong putting that much plastic in a lake. I don't like the idea, if you're askin'.

I would think that they would rust out very quickly and then all of that plastic would just be left to float around. I would think that it is a very bad idea. Recycle them!

Thought about it once. The more I thought about how much wire I would have to add to hold them limbs together, plus the metal rusting quickly the more I realized it was easier to cut a cedar or willow tree to sink.

Shouldn't be an issue from an environmental standpoint. I just think it will be more trouble than it is worth and won't last long.

They do attract fish, but mostly dinks. Guess the cover is too tight. I fish over one that is at least 3 years old, and it appears to show no signs of decay, at least on the graph, still standing upright, and just as bushy as the day I sank it

So what about crappie condoes where people are throwing pvc pipe, 5 gallon bucks (also plastic), filled with cement.
