I have a quick question about the lights on my Skeeter, i'm almost possitive i have a short somewhere and not sure where to start looking. When i'm flying across the lake to the next spot i have no problem with my lights at all, but once i stop and start fishing, my lights will go off for about 15 seconds and come back on and repeat this process. I've got an all night tourney on Ray Hubbard this Saturday night and planning on checking it out tomorrow after work, any suggestions on where to start looking for a possible short?
Thanks for any info.
Ray

If the on-off interval is consistant, like you could set your watch to it, it would sound like an auto-resetting circuit-breaker. Maybe heat-related, where it gets cooled while you're cruising. Is it all the lights (nav and anchor) or just one? Nothing else is affected? Assuming you have one 3-position switch (off/anchor/nav) - if its only one of the lights, it'll be either in the socket or in the wires from the light to the switch or from the light to the ground bus. If both, you can narrow it down to the fuse box, switch, or wiring from one to the other. If more of your accessories are affected, narrow it down further to wires that feed the fuse box, or the common ground, maybe even back at the battery. Hard to figure why it only happens while you're fishing. If you went out to the boat right now & turned 'em on, without getting in the boat, what would happen? What if you sit in the drivers seat but don't crank the engine? Maybe it's just a full-moon phenomenon... I'd start by looking for wires that might could be disturbed when you get up to fish or while on deck, but not while you're cruising...under the deck near the chair pedestal, rod locker, trolling motor mount...I'm just guessing...good luck...

What year model Skeeter RB,the early models i would say to check the power and ground bus connectors the late models have the big module underneath the console with resettable breakers and it also has manual overide switches on that big module. If it turns out to be the big module computer they had a recall on the 04 models for a problem with the system locking up and may be part of your trouble.

Could be wired in to your Livewall timer I think jtexas is on to something. A consistent interval should mean something different than a short.

That was one I was thinking.. Of course I don't know why it would not flash running across the lake. I would make sure everything was turned off, except the lights, and go from there.
