Pepop:

Started working on these boys today. The brother and I have started our winter projects, and will be sinking these 5, and several Boo Piles & Boo Balls between now and March.

Start thinking about where you want them to go. Might ask our pipe man, if he has any place he woud like a couple put. or just the GPS Cords.

Looking pretty good, I figure we will have about 5 of these to sink.

Just a thought Keith, what about cutting 2 buckets into quarters and screwing the pieces to the ends of the pipe for extra shade/cover. Kinda like Ernest Paty's design. You still have 5 gal buckets all over the place dont you? Anyway, I have 2-3 good spots for them.

Possibly, but probably not on each end. That would be 14 1/4's pre structure, which would be 2 1/4 buckets for each structure X 5 structure for 11 buckets. Can't give that many.

Got Boo to do also... But we'll do what we can.

Are you FISHING Saturday.

We'll look at it. Usually we cut buckets in half, and the top & bottom allows us to use both side, and have sealed bottoms. It hard to use all our supplies on 5 Structures. For the 10-12 buckets it takes to add on to the Pipe Trees, I can make 20-24 Boo Piles. dunce Hard to turn down 20-24 ADDITIONAL piles, to just make 5 a little betters.

Anybody got 10-12 buckets they want to donate... woot

Question, on your pipe tree do you screw the cross arms together or are they free to move around the rebar. I did notice the angle cut on the spacers, is that to hold them in place???
I used lids on a tree and had problems hanging up on the lip being turned down. You might want to turn your upward. Just a thought...

Yes, the spacers are cut at a angle to keep the cross pieces in place. The direction the pipe is leaning has nothing to do with the hanging up, it is the edges on the shade buckets. We will angle the buckets upward, but the lids will be flat with lips, and run the risk of hanging up. My brother and I use WEED-LESS Jig Heads so we don't have the problem with hanging up.

I understand the reason for the buckets, they create shade. But on many occasions, we will Side-Scan 10-20 crappie hanging on a stick with 2 branches coming off of it. So our feeling is, although it might be reasonable. We will entice more fish by cutting the buckets in half, and getting 2 Boo Structures to 1 bucket, than we will by using 2 1/2 cut-up buckets to add to a already created structure.

So, in our opinion it is better to use the extra 12 buckets to make 24 more structures, than to make 5 with cut up buckets for shade.

So 5 Structures with Shade or 29 Baboo Structures. Which do you think you will catch more fish on. Of course just our opinion. All the stuff we use is FREE material. We don't have the money to build the structures out of PVC and buckets, although I wish we did.

Thanks keith,
I made up 6 trees today. I figured out the angle thing real quick. Works great and will be sinking them tomorrow in Lake Fork.

Good luck to you with your trees...
