I just inherited a 14 aluminum boat. Hull is in good shape but it is in desperate need of a paint job. Do I need to sandblast it and start from bare metal or can it be cleaned good and then primed and painted?
Also, I've checked every where local and no one carries the primer or paint (flat green). Anyone know of a supplier for these materials. The labor to do the job was also inherited with the boat. (Lucky Me).
Any info is greatly appreciated.

you should atleast sand the metal. The primer you want to use is Zinc Chromate. It's a green primer for aluminum. I buy it to use in my shop. It's not a cheap paint. You may want to check with a paint store to see if you can buy it in a gallon and shoot it with an air gun.
If you want to buy some just send me an e-mail. They come in a case of 6 spray cans. i don't have a source to buy it buy the gallon.
