My Yamaha 225 HPDI has a hard sputter (goes, stops, goes , stops) until it hits about 2800rpm. After that she runs great.

Anyone have any ideas?

sounds like fuel to me. have you ever replaced the gas lines? ethenol will make the insides deteriorate and get in the engine.

take it to a dealership an have them hook it up to the computer motors dont fix themselves if you continue to run it you might turn a minor problem into a major one good luck.

+1 a minor fix could turn into major $$$ repairs if not addressed

My partner had the same sort of symptoms on his 250 hpdi. Turned out to be a bad cranking battery. It wasn't throwing any codes either.
