good to hear, i was going to get the lower gear ration but was talked into the G7, glad you really like it. and glad i can get some insight on it, might be a few months before i get to toss a bait on her.
is this comparable to the older most well known curado? i hear the chronarch replaced the older curado?

All of my reels are either the Shimano Curado 200E7 or 200E5. i would say when you cast it is not as smooth as the E series however i feel like it is not to far from it either. I know the G series fits in my hand much better. I have never heard that the Chronarch replaced the Curado. I would say you have a great reel and nothing to worry about. My reason for the lower gear ratio was because i needed a cranking reel and this is the perfect one for that.

I haven't used one yet. I stocked up on the E7's when they were discontinuing them.
The G series is made in China which to me is no big deal. I have worked for a Japanese manufacturing company before and know this to be true; when you manufacture a product for so long and can run the production line near perfection for "X" amount of years, they will ship that production line to Mexico or China. It's all about maximizing the profits. China can do it cheaper. If they follow the same production methods and use the same suppliers for their inner workings of their reels it won't be a problem. Hitachi Automotive Products and many other Japanese companies have done this for years. I'm sure Shimano has had this plan in the works for years. All of that being said, the Curado has been their best selling reels for years. Part of the reason is pricing. They can produce it for less in China, sell it for less over here and still make more money.
As far as not having as many bearings as some other reels in the same price range; Bearings make up for "slop" in tolerances. If your tolerances are tight, you don't need as many bearings. "The more bearings, the better the reel" is ment to grab the attention of the fisherman.
