If you do get a used boat, take it to reputable marine dealership and have it gone over and inspected for problems. Be sure to find on the diagnostics how many hours are on the boat. Used means they sold it for a reason and that is not always bad. 30 Grand isn't chump change now a days. Good luck!
I have a Triton and love it W/Merc!

Champion, Skeeter, Legend been sold too? Champion did go bankrupt due to bad management but Ranger boats never did. Genmar who was the corporation that owned Ranger went into bankruptcy. Meridian Sports sold Skeeter to Yamaha in the mid 90's. Legend was bought up and radically changed.

Whats the window you guys would stay in while buying a used boat? Yes, the boat I buy will have warranty on the motor.

In May 2010 I purchased a 2008 Skeeter with a 250 for approximately the amount you are willing to spend and I was very neverous. What made the difference for me was the engine had a 6 year warranty from Yahama through 2014. The engine had 66 hours when I purchased it. Generally nothing really happens with the hull. So engine warranty was very important for me.

With the economy still in the dumps. Gas being 3 bucks a gallon, lakes in drought situation, guys having newborns and mommy making them sell their boat, or pending divorce.

Used Boats are the way to go, always have been and always will. Just take it and have it checked out before you buy it

Write down a list of all the things you want on your boat. power pole, SI units, troling motor, 4bank charger, motor size and type....... Once you make your list only look for a boat with all those items. If you find one without one of your accessories try and get the guy to lower the price so you can purchase the missing accessories. Dont sacrifice anything. It might take a while to find the exact boat your want but it will be worth it. And always test drive it and have a mechanic look and the motor. Get as much information on the boat as possible. Hope this helps Jake

Buy the one you like the best, test drive em all, look at all the options that are on it and then make your decision. You are the only one that has to be happy with it

If you decide to add a BassCat to your perspective list, I would be more than happy to take you out one day in mine.
