You want a Load Range C tire. Don't know what Discount Tire sells but Carlisle (USA Trail) and Goodyear Marathons are a couple of the more popular ones.

john,
Goodyear always gets a lot of positive write ups on every boating form I look at.

I've had nothing but trouble out of Carlisle tires on my travel trailer and boat trailer. Iv'e had 11 tires fail since 2000. switched to Goodyear with no trouble on either trailer.

Don't know what's wrong there kc5smc. I've had the same set of Carlisles on my camper for about 10 years and on my boat trailer for about 4 and haven't had problem one!

All the failed tires had a knot develope on the tread or side wall or a broken belt. warranty replaced them on the rv but after nine I replaced them all with goodyear. All the tires were maintained at correct pressure to no avail. Trailer weight was 9500.
Boat trailer went one year and the left tire developed a knot on the inside side wall. Replaced them both.
Rv store said every trailer they sold with Carlisle, Customers were coming in with same complaint. Carlisle is replacing them but not correcting the problem.
By the way, Goodyear had the same problem but did correct the problem.
Also, the first tire that failed on the TT, when the belt broke, developed such a swerveing problem at 70 it nearly through my rig in a ditch. Now every time I see or here about a truck and trailer upside down in a ditch I wonder if it was Carlisle tires!

The 4ply is a B rated tire, 6ply is C. I run the C on my boat and it is lighter than your bathtub...

Don't have Carlisle tires on my RV or boat trailer, but I get the Good Sam Club magazine. Lot's of comlaints in there about Carlisle tires. Wonder why they are the OEM tires on so many RV/boat trailers? Way cheaper?

Sorry to change the topic a little bit - but when you get new tires for your trailer do you drag the whole thing into the shop (trailer, boat and all) or do you remove the wheels at home and take them in?

Thanks,
Greg

I just purchased from Discount Tire-Austin, two new Goodyear Marathon tires,215/75R14 Load C for my 1995 Ranger trailer...The last set lasted 8 years!!! I paid $94 per tire installed. Outlined White Letters....Nice tire!

Information on sizes: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.jsp?make=Goodyear&model=Marathon+Radial

I've had Marathons for the past 5 years, and the tires still look great....the ONLY tires I've had that lasted this long. All others I've tried went about 2 years. Drag the boat and all into the tire shop and let them do all the work unless you just enjoy that type of thing...won't cost you any more money. Good luck!
