To put it into perspective I paid $6,000 for two of my customers to shoot a stupid deer a couple months back.

That makes $1,000 for a shot at a fish of a lifetime seem downright cheap.

Thanks Ken.....it was the trip of lifetime for sure!

With regard to the cost, it is small in comparison to what it cost this individual to build this place. From the dirt work, to the stocking of the forage base to the stocking and management of the largemouth bass.....he has spared no expense to realize his dream of a fishery like this and I am just thankful that I got the opportunity to fish it.

Congratulations Steve! What a day of fishing! I read where Fouzman (I think) mentioned yesterday about your catch but didn't say your name because you hadn't got to post yet. I was happy it was you, I know you've been on a quest for a DD for a while.

I can second what JR said, Steve is a great big fella, so if a fish looks big in his hands, its a big fish laugh

I have heard good things about you, so I can say with some confidence as JR did...It couldnt have happened to a nicer guy!

Congrats againg Bud...Thats a day that will be tough to repeat, but if it can be done, it will de done there!

+1 thumb

I'm happy for you Steve. I know you've fished all over with a number of great guides so for you to be able to accomplish this feat is no small matter.

I noticed that Hyper worm in one of those pix...Those fish are suckers for LFT baits...I believe Fouz used Packs Jig w/Hyper Freak trailer to catch one of his 14's, and Mark put his brother on a 9+ out there that is now the cover photo for this month and I believe it was on one of his baits as well. I still cant get over this! Your average fish was almost 11 pounds!!! Thats got to be the best 5 fish I have ever heard of!!!!

Congrats Steve. I can vouch for Steve pouring his heart and pocket book out in search of a DD. Awesome stringer, no matter what lake!
BTW Steve, from my experience, once an angler breaks the DD curse once the rest come much easier. Absolutely greatness, I'm proud of you.

That looks like a really neat place to fish. I would certainly consider fishing there myself just for the thrill of it. I will have to point out that this is why I think there should be a separate category for private records. It is just not the same as catching a huge fish from public waters where every average guy has a shot at the fish and the food chain is not artificially enhanced with fertilizer/feed,etc. Same goes for the trophy deer.
