Just an update. I am still working on content for the class and the web site. I hope to announce a date soon. Here are some bones to throw at you. Hidden screens on your h2o.

From the map screen hit the exit button three times and poof an analog speedometer!

From the satellite display screen, press "down arrow" three times and you'll see a display showing a whole slew of stuff. For each satellite, the azimuth, elevation, snr and status are shown.
A "BF" for status means that satellite is being used for the position solution. A "3F" means that ephemeris data has not yet been received, etc. There's a bunch of other stuff there too. If I
recall correctly, the battery voltage is displayed in there somewhere, along with something or other to do with the LCD voltage or duty cycle or some such. To exit from that mode, just press "down
arrow" again and it will return to the satellite display page.

Thanks J.G.

The class wont be that complicated. We are going to learn practicle use of the H2O and not all of the technology that is behind it.

I too would like to be notified about the class. I've had my H2O since October, but would like more info.

This may be a stupid question, but can this unit be placed in a cradle on the dashboard of a pickup truck and get a read through the widshield to tell us the direction we're going and the elevation we're at? The wife wants a compass/altimeter, and I want a GPS and wonder if it will do both.

You bet it can. I use mine in the truck all the time. I hardly go anywhere without it. Using it frequently even if you know where you're going just makes it easier to use. Plus, if you get lost you dont have to stop and ask for directions. wink

Hey Mo Bass,

You might even want to look into the iFinder Hunt. Depending on your exact needs and wants, it's basically an H2O with a built in compass and altimiter. For vehicular navigation, I think both units should be pretty comparable. The iFinder will do both, but it's dependent on GPS lock-on and in the case of the compass, motion.

Hate to have to go cheap on this, but I wonder if the $99 iFinder GO2 will give compass readings as long as there's a straight line movement of the walker/driver? We don't really need an altitude reading.

When I plug in the H20 battery charger in my truck, it won't stay connected and switches back to battery power. You can jiggle it and it will start working but will switch back with any little movement. Is anyone else having this problem?

I did when I had the lnayard attached. It got in the way of the connector. Lowrance has great customer service. If you have trouble give them a call and I am sure they will replace the cable for you.

After hearing about a class on the H2O I called BPS and I received it last week. Do I need to buy a card and a reader and install it before the class?

Please let me know how big a card I need.

Thanks for all your help.
