Lakeside Village Marina on the NW side of Whitney will be closing down on 12/31/11. I guess the drought has taken it's toll. It was fairly well out of the water the last time I checked and the lake hasn't come up much since then. Sad deal. I hope they can find a buyer soon and they are able to make a go of it.

Hey even though it only has 4 ft of water, I have some friends who been tearing them up right at daybreak. They read the forum but do not post pics, I am sorry to hear that in previous years 1997-99 we caught some very big fish this time of year over there.

Sorry to here this.I had heard they might a couple of weeks ago.It is just so wrong what is going on @ Whitney.Look at the lake levels around Texas, 4 to5 foot low, then look at Whitney,15 to 16 foot low.The powers to be do not give a rat's a#@ about business owners, are anything but selling water. Plain and simple.Just look at the other Marinas that are dry, just about all of them except Juniper Cove.Oh well, what did you think would happen, when they built a power plant behind the dam? And let's not forget the poor rice farmers down in the Houston area.

The primary function of our reservoirs is water retention for agricultural and municipalities. If you want to get mad, get mad at people wasting water. It makes me sick every time they propose building a new reservoir by flooding bottomland forest. Texas has lost 75% of this unique habitat. Conserve water and stop all this lawn watering and other wasteful practices!

I thought Whitney served as a electric provider and flood control. They keep those turbines rolling at the dam for power production. Sad to see Lakeside Village Marina closing we spent many a childhood day fishing there back in the 70's.
