What kind of SPIDERWIRE braid??
Please try SPIDERWIRE ULTRACAST green or yellow and you can see how good is this braid.I use SPIDERWIRE ULTRACAST green and yellow 6lb.and 10 lb.I stop using power pro because ULTRACAST is better line.

FIRELINE SMOKE 4LB. is better comparative with POWER PRO 5LB.

The first Spiderwire that I tried was years ago when it first came out. I've recently tried Spiderwire Ultracast Invisi-braid, and then Powerpro on another reel. That Invisibraid kept digging into the spool when casting and the Powerpro hasn't done that. I've literally thrown off and lost lures while casting because of that line digging into the spool and stopping during the cast. I use mono backing under both braided lines to prevent that digging in that a friend cautioned me about.

I guess that's why there are so many choices in the line isle at sporting good stores, some things work better for some people and their casting or fishing style, and not for others.

I fish with DAIWA WHISKER SS TOURNAMENT 1300,spinnig reel with FIRELINE SMOKE 4LB.and SPIDERWIRE ULTRACAST 6LB.-10LB.green and yellow(not INVISI-BRAID!!!)and never have problems.
I use to mono backing under braid line and i spool very tide the mono and braid,so my line don't digging in the the spool.

If you have ceramic guides on rod you never have problems using braid.

It may have been problems with the reel causing casting issues with the Invisibraid. When I changed the line on that reel to Powerpro I had bad backlash problems last weekend.

I love braid. It allows me to fish my Penn fierce 2000 and not worry about being spooled by a big red. I have 150 yds of 20# PP. Yes it's great for casting small jigs and popping corks. I love casting 1/4 oz. Jig head with a glow ripple mullet. Deadly in the cuts for trout...not too many big ones, but lots of 15-18"ers. I do use it surf fishing as well, but as mentioned I use a fairly long leader tied directly to the main line with a blood knot. Takes some time to do it but worth the work. Hope this helps.
