What's a good airbrush (for hard plastics) and what paints do y'all buy?

JP, Check Hobby Lobby's site and you can usually find a 40% offcoupon on any one item. Print 2 off and get a iwata Neo brush and then get an air compressor. They also sell the Createx airbrush paints there but the ones at Wal Mart will work too if you cut them with water or non ammonia Windex. For tutorials check YouTube and www.tackleunderground.com

Iwata makes excellent airbrushes and it might be good to learn with a dual action model from the get go. I'm stuck on single action pasche h models - since I've used single action for so long I really have trouble with learning the dual action. If you go with the single action the pasche h models are hard to beat. Try looking at airbrush.com

Any suggestions on what Createx paints to start with?

Have no idea about Createx paints. I use the smelly, flammable stuff - definately not recommended for home use.

same model but get the gravity feed one. I like it a lot better and easier to use. You can do some decent detail with the NEO but for very fine detail you might have to step up a bit. I have the NEO and use it quite a bit but my Eclipse is much more detailed when it comes to painting. I would make sure you have the base colors of the createx as well as some pearlescents. Stock up on white as well since its usually a base coat. Some guys are using taxidermists paints and as long as they are water based they are easy to use. In addition www.chicagoairbrushsupply.com has killer deals on paint and usually have free shipping.

Mark , do you have to clearcoat your baits if you use a water based paint?
I am going to buy one just to find out for myself. Half y'all lie like hell and the other half are full of chit. www.anglersprotackle.com/store, A great locally owned business www.bcfw.org Bass Club of Fort Worth

Mark , do you have to clearcoat your baits if you use a water based paint? yes, I use Devcon 2 Ton 30 minute epoxy painted on via a paintbrush. Its a clear two part epoxy but it has a much faster working time, usually about 3 minutes per small batch so mix as small a batch as you can. You will need to usea rod turner or rotisserie to get the epoxt to level out on the bait as it cures. It is waterproof and good stuff. get it at Ace hardware stores in small or larger sizes. There are some others i have not used such as Dick Nite's that I plan to try. I believe its just a dip style.

@Xray- Before you go to Hobby Lobby check on the HOBBY LOBBY web page. They often have 40% and 50% off coupons you can use. I bought one for 50% off. Used the saving to buy an airhose and extra needles for spare.

Not to disagree with anyone but just wanted to share my experience.
I bought the harbor freight brush and had a hard time with it. I could not get it to spray createx. I really don't want to mess with thinning any more than I have to. I plan on just getting an eclipse and being done with it.
