I need help. I have been struggling to find a hobby and I have a few that I would like to look into. Can anyone tell me if any classes are offered in the Dallas/Ft Worth area for; 1. Wood working 2. Knife making 3. Gun Smithing
If any of you have gotten into one of these hobbies and can offer advice I would greatly appreciate anything you could offer.
Thanks

I love these sites, http://www.instructables.com/ http://www.stevensonprojects.com/Search around and find something that grabs your interest, follow the instructions, and see if that doesn't peak your interest. I love building stuff. When I finish my shop/cave in the backyard, it will become the largest, all wood kayak/canoe/sailboat manufacturing facility that I know ofin Kaufman county.

Check your local junior colleges or community colleges. Many of them offer non-accredited classes for a variety of hobbies. I know our local one offers photography classes for hobbiest. I just can't recall right now the other subjects offered.

If you can find a place to dig for old bottles, you might give that a try. Lots of fun, and you might make some money.

This is what I play with, it is a great stress release pounding on some steal. It is some work but very satisfying when the knife or whatever I heat, pound, grind, and polish. I have not taken any classes, just learn by doing and Youtube helps a lot. spike knives are fun to make 5 1-2 inch blade 12 inch long by Texas big redneck, on Flickr My baby Little anvil by Texas big redneck, on Flickr coil spring from a train car transformed Getting close by Texas big redneck, on Flickr Almost by Texas big redneck, on Flickr Shoot me a PM if you want more info

Both Woodcraft and Rockler offer wood working classes. But, as already stated, the internet is your freind. For woodworking check out www.thewoodwhisperer.com. Very good beginner level info on that site.
