Has anyone added a trim gauge to a boat that did not have one already? I would like to add one, but I am not sure how.
Thanks...

What type of motor do you have? My boat doesn't have a trip gauge, but the motor has the sending unit and the wiring is already in the harness going to the console.

I just added one to my '91 BassCat Sabre. It's simple. I removed the clock in my dash and replaced it with the trim guage. My Sabre already had the sending unit installed on the motor bracket. On the back of the trim guage, the "S" post wire goes to the sending unit. The "I" post is to the hot wire(you need to find a wire that is hot only when the ignition key is in the "on" position). The "G" post is your ground. You can buy a 6 dollar tester at AutoZone to locate your hot wire. First, check and see if your motor already has the sending unit installed. If so, all you need is the trim guage and some wire.

I have a 90HP Mercury on a Pro185 bass tracker. I will check for the sending unit. Sounds like an easy job.
Thanks..

My trim sender went out under warranty and I had it replaced and then it broke again all in less than 2 years. I have since run the boat for 13 years and do not miss at all. I trim to feel and the sound of the motor. If you do not have a water pressure gauge and only have dash room for one I recommend the pressure gauge.
