How about Fayette Co. Res.? Great fishing, and real nice cabins at Oak Thicket Park. Book through TP&W.

If you are wanting to fish for largemouth I would say LBJ. They just built a new Marriott by Horseshoe Bay. It isn't on the water, but I think they have a marina or access to one. If you want something a little more moderate there are a couple places in Kingsland. There is one that is real nice right at the confluence, but I can;t remember the name. All of the units are named after countries is al I can remember rigt now They were real nice, I'l try to see if I can remember the name of it and post later. There are several lodges on Buchanan which is better for stripers.

No, LBJ in the summer is hard to fish with thousands of PWC's running the narrow lake.
The bed and breakfasts in Llano would be nice place to stay. Also google bed and breakfast in the hill country for tons of inns to stay at.
Night fishing LBJ isn't bad or hazzardous. Hand feeding deer at inks state park and fishing is okay also. You can actually fish 3 lakes with 40 minutes that all produce fish. Travis, Inks, Buchanan, LBJ.
Lived in Llano for a few years. Don't forget 3 of Texas top 50 Bar-B-Q places are in Llano according to Texas Monthly Magazine.

Hill Country Inn and Suites in Llano was clean and reasonable when I stayed there a year or so ago. During the summer, you can have Llano almost to yourself. My family and I spent a week there in July and outside of one guy whose car broke down there and a small family gathering of the motel owner-we had the entire motel, pool, hot tub(and most of Llano) to ourselves. It was great. We used Llano for a base and went to Austin, Marble Falls, Fredericksburg,Johnson City, Inks Lake, Enchanted Rock and Blanco. The BBQ is good, so try all of them while you're there. Llano is close to Buchanan,Inks,Marble Falls, and LBJ-so you could fish a different lake every day.

Llano and Fredricksburg have nice wine tours, lots of shopping for the ladies. Coopers Old Time Pit BarBQ is among the best in Llano, but Brothers and Inmans isn't to bad either. 30 minutes from Marblefalls down 1431 is Gloster Bend park on Lake Travis which puts you in the Colorado river arm of upper Travis and away from the 25,000 PWC down lake. Great fishing in the Bend area. There are some nice night crappie houses to fish from at night on LBJ where the Llano and Colorado join together.

Just came back from Silver Creek Resort on Buchanan. Great lake for Striper, White Bass, LM, and Blues. Nicest folks running this place than you will ever find. Not a Marriot by any means. Just a real nice, clean, and friendly fishin camp.
Probably the saddest thing you will ever see is a mosquito sucking on a mummy, Forget it little friend!! :-(

Check out Paradise Point on Buchanan...very reasonable and the fishing can be great. They have a big ole dock with lots of flood lights, and their breakfast is great!! HiLine pier is also just a hop, skip, and a jump away.

Waco is on the mend. Her level was raised in 2004. They raised her 7 ft. Her new level flooded lots of new brush and timber on the shorelines. She's worth learning, nice chunks to be caught.

Waco has been much better this spring than in the past 3 years actually, the areas around Speegleville park and the Marina over there seem to be where veryone is rackin in the fish, so on top of the crappie and white bass ive been bringing home lately, their not too bad either. Good Luck !
If you don't really want to know, then don't ask me, because I will tell you ! Just Remember : Cain't never could, and gimme' died in the Whorehouse.

Come stay in Salado or Belton and you can fish Stillhouse and Belton. Stillhouse has really turned on with the black bass and Belton has been really good for whites and hybrids this spring. Lots of other things to do in this area with lots of museums, golf, etc.
I know what you are thinking....and you're wrong!
