I've just rigged a couple of jigs...I've slipped a willow leaf blade on a swivel and dropped the split ring over the jig hook followed by a little tubing like used with trailer hooks. I think it would work as well as a spinnerbait and would come through brush easier.

Any of you already tried this?

I think It was strike king or Stanley that used to make a jig like this. Never bought one though

It's just a different trailer for a jig.

I just looked through Nichol's website for a rig like this but couldn't find it...but, that will make me try it a little more.

Yes and you will be amazed at all the fish that miss your bait. I don't understand why this thing dosent work better. Throw it next to a swim jig and a spinnerbait you will get bass to swirl and miss all day while the other catches the fish. We got tired of trying to make it work while something else did work. Great thinking though I love it when people think outside the box this is what I strive for in this sport, maybe you will have better luck on it.

I haven't done it on a jig yet, but I do something similar on soft-plastic jerkbaits (like flukes) to give them a little extra flash.

I slide the head of the bait up the hook like I'm going to Texas-rig it, but before I put the hook through the body I put a little willowleaf on. One you complete the T-rig, the body of the bait actually works to keep the blade on, if that makes sense.

The blade really doesn't spin much when you rig it like this, but it dances around and flashes quite a bit.

I have used them a lot too, And I can confirm you do miss a lot of bites, I think they hit the blade. But I can also confirm you get better fish on them.

Thanks Todd! Crank, I'm going to try your trick too. It's just like a gold willowleaf blade on the hook shank which would be under the Fluke...right? You could also used a little surgical tubing to hold the blade more towards the head.

Better off with an underspin on the jig head I would think.

Your right I forgot the ones I caught seemed to be better and the ones I saw swirl on it were better. Were talking 4s and 5s compared to 3s and 4s not giants. However when your buddy is behind you catching 5 to 1 you switch pretty quick and it was frustrating missing fish.

First time I used it was on Limestone in the early 80's. We killed them for a couple of months and then it just sort of died. I'll still throw it every once in a great while if I get desperate.
