Ok so I have a soft spot about 4x4 in my floor. It is fiberglass.

I was thinking to simply cut out the damaged area, epoxy the cut edges, get treated plywood for a "scab" and put resin on it, cut out patch the same size out of treated plywood, apply the fiberglass resin all over the piece for the patch, screw it all together, epoxy all the screw holes and gaps and that would fix it..

Does anyone know If that is a good fix??? I thought by using the resin and epoxy it would be ok and make it last for a long time...

Any of u guys know if this will be a long lasting fix.. if not do any of u guys know how I can fix this hole??? Thanks guys..

it is not. just went thru re-decking my CC for a 2x2 weak spot.
after opening it up, it was WAAAAY worse than expected. if you're going that far, do it right. the first time. then forget about it for 10 years, safely.
hit up Chris @ Classic Fiberglass, he will at the very least steer you in the right direction.
good luck!

lite-liner is correct. If you are gonna do it do it right the first time. I can almost guarantee you will find much more rotten wood then you expect to.

tha catchin' is my favorite part.

make sure you use epoxy resin and not polyester resin. HUGE difference. I would not recomend pressure treated plywood. Instead use a high grade plywood. the fewer knots the better.

I agree, do it right. I also suggest against treated. I prefer marine grade. If you want to try and save a couple of dollars, use a high grade exterior plywood. I disagree about the poly. Your boat is made out of poly. I think epoxy is overkill for this repair. I have a TON of extra mat and rovin left over from my Skeeter resto. (see the link in my sig) I could probably hook you up. Remember, resin without glass is useless. Be prepared for a pandora's box. The more you cut, the more rot you will find.
