Whats happening out there, taking my dad out there later in week, he has never been. Are they spawning yet or still in transition.

They are all probably swimming around counting the hook holes in each others mouths. That lake has been getting some kind of pressure.

Thinking of heading there tomorrow, how crowded has it been?

Let's just say I can check 20 boats out there during a day and 18 will say they have caught anywhere from 0-4 or 5 fish. then I always come across the 1 or 2 guys that "wore them out all day" "had over 30 fish up to 6 or 7 lbs" "caught tons of slot fish" etc. so I take them with a grain of salt. fish who knows, maybe those one or two guys are just that much better than the other 18 boats out there.

Heath you know that lake better than most. I know it was exactly like that when we were there 3 weeks ago. I think it's true. You find them it's a flurry of action for an hour or 2. Enough to make the day worthwhile.

We went Tuesday and fished for about 3 hours. Only caught 3 but was happy to get them. One about the size of my hand, a 3# and then a 4# or so. The bigger fish came out of 12 foot of water and the other two were in about 2 foot. There were alot of boats for a Tuesday and never saw anyone catch a fish.

maybe the one or two guys are not camping out at the bridges, and have found better structure and/or seasonal coverage.

out of seven trips dating back to October 1st, last weekend was the first "tough" day, but I still caught ten decent slots in four hours of fishing. in those four hours there were only two boats that came within 100 yards, and one of those was a good friend who fishes the same type of structure.

one word of advice - the wind is your friend, on what appears to be a do nothing bank.

Its 100% spot specific... an area the size of my pickup produced 20+ fish between 9am and noon, all of em from 3-6 lbs. The previous day we didnt fish that area, just covered water and tried to put together a pattern, we had less than 10 fish all day. Best 5 were still over 20#, but all in all we struggled. Without the grass it fishes alot like Fairfield used to IMO.

Location, location, location. A buddy and I fished there a while back and caught over 20 fish in the same area. There were several other boats very close to us and they did not catch anything. I seems they just get stacked up in one spot sometimes.

that's what I've been tellin the folks that tell me they have only caught 2 or 3. That the guys who are catching 20 plus are finding a wad of fish at the right time and catching them usually in a spurt of action.
