It's not a big deal, I was just trying to do what my son wanted, as the experience was about him and what he wanted. He had some fishing goals he wanted to achieve this winter and I committed to taking the time to help him achieve them.
My son and I talked about it on the way to the scales and it was his preference to not publicize it. It was about him catching the fish, records and anything else associated with it is just chatter and really don't matter.
He wanted to share the pictures and story with some close family and friends, submit the record and leave it at that and I was trying to abide by his wishes.
He spends a lot of time with me on the water and in the field and has a different set of values than most kids his age.
Anyway, it's not a big deal. I am sure it would have gotten out anyway.

Everyone on the forum already knew about the big blues at Lake Worth. So posting it on here didn't change much....especially after the 72# fish was on the news, the radio, and the newspaper. So might as well let Lane get his well earned congratulations. The boy fought the fish like a pro and handled it with class. Cap'N Dave was pretty close by and he didn't even know a big fish was landed. When 2fish landed his 52 in Feb he squeeled like a school girl. RDZ and I heard him a 1000 yards away....lol. That was Dave I have a deeper voice than him lol Fixed it for ya. Hey Now!

Congrats on the Monster fish! Did yall just keep making that same drift over there by us bank fishers or did you end up moving to a different spot? We had some good fish come in early morning but after 10 or 11 the bite completely died except for some quality channels...

Congrats on the Monster fish! Did yall just keep making that same drift over there by us bank fishers or did you end up moving to a different spot? We had some good fish come in early morning but after 10 or 11 the bite completely died except for some quality channels...

We moved a few times before we found some good fish. Channel catfish were eating us alive.
Got the scales certified today and paperwork is headed off to TPWD tomorrow!
