I’m looking for information on a trip down the Brazos River. I would like to find a place where we can put in around the Granbury area maybe and then kayak down to a campground and stay the night then the next day pack up and kayak down to another campground and stay the night which is where we could have our other vehicle waiting on us. I don’t really want to go more than about 10 miles each leg. I’ve looked at maps and TPWD State Parks but found nothing. Anyone have any suggestions?

thats a tough one. hard to get in unless you plan on draggin your gear a long way, and down a cliff! i am sure it would be a fun trip, but not sure about the logistics of it. unless you know someone that lives in pecan plantation smile

There are private access points in River Run and Pecan Plantaion. The public access at the damn is difficult to say the least. I have scaled that canyon with my yaks 3 times, and I don't think I will ever do it again.

It is a long way. 25+ miles to the first public campground, which I think is the next public access. Tres Rios is about 35 miles. I never floated this, I always paddled down and back up to the dam. And cursed every minute of hauling my [censored] back up to my truck.

Last time there, I caught 11 species, with the biggest being a 5 pound drum.

southwestpaddler has maps.

Thanks. Sorry for the late reply, I've been away from my computer which is a very good thing!
