I purchased some squarebill crankbait bodies from LureBuddy and this is my first one to paint. Should work for bass in grass.

Thanks. It's definitely meant to be a red craw pattern. I did another in red/black. I've been wearing them out on Athens with these colors, but I broke my Bandit 100 last week when I yanked it free from some grass and it bounced off of the boat. These should work quite well as replacements. I've been repainting some ugly 'traps in red/black and red/gold and they have been producing good numbers of fish most days. It's going to be fun developing this skill.

Nate, he gets $18 for 10 unpainted bodies. He lives about 10 minutes from me, so I just stop by on the way home from work and get cranks, bearings, etc. Very nice guy, and his prices are very good, too.

NO. That was a misprint. I was mistaken. I think it was a halucination.

David, I did it with a paint pen, which didn't work well on the textured surface on these baits. I'm working on some templates that I'm cutting from glossy card stock. I'm also looking at a company that make templates for painting lures.

Here's another one. It's not perfect, but I'm sure it would catch some late spawn/early summer bass.

I think I'm going to enjoy this new hobby.
