How do you wax your boat. Just the top half? What kind of wax? Thanks

yes, just the top. waxing the bottom makes the boat stick to the water. as far as what kind? i don't think it really matters, but call Michael Bristow at North Texas Fibreglass, he knows for sure what kind to use!

Even though, the top/rim may not look like much, I would invest in a powered buffer. I once had a 17Ft. Cajun and it was quite a workout to do the rim. I have a 21ft. boat now, so I bought a buffer. Just my 2 cents. Steven

BUFF OUT WITH JUWLERS ROUGH & HIGH POWERED BUFFER. NOT THE CHEAP BUFFER. YOU NEED A HIGH SPEED HEAVY DUTY BUFFER. PUT THE BUFFER PAD TO THE ROUGH (YOU CAN GET THE BIG STICK AT A TRUCK STOP) TRUCKERS USE IT TO BUFF CROM. GET THE WHITE. THEN APPLY IT TO THE BOAT. BE CAREFULL NOT TO DIG IN TO HARD IT CAN SCORCH. YOUR BOAT WILL LOOK LIKE NEW AGAIN. AFTER THIS APPLY ARMERALL.

Jor, We use Spectrum Color's wax and it is 75% carnuba with uv protectors already in it. It is one of the best waxes on the market. WWW.Spectrumcolor.com Don't just wax the top cap, also wax the sides down to the water line. Main reason is it allows the timber to slide off the boat easier and doesn't scratch the gelcote as bad. Don't wax the bottom of the hull. It doesn't get direct sun light on it and doesn't oxidize. Plus wax creates drag and will slow the boat down a little. Believe it or not, the fastest hulls are actually left sanded, not polished. But I wouldn't worry about that at all. You aren't running a race were .02 of a second will cost you a first place finish.
