How much or how little can I expect to pay for a locking rear end on my 2002 Dodge Ram Q-cab? If any of you guys know someone down here in Houston you'd recommend to do the work, I'd like to know.

Looking for a little more confidence on sloppy ramps.

Depending on what type of locker you can look at paying between $500 and $1200 installed. 4 Wheel Parts can sell and install. There is a 4 Wheel Parts on the north side of Houston.

How about upgrading his to a limited slip? I know mine works fine but don't know if its easy or even possible.

Only thing about limited slip is one tire has to spin before the clutches apply. And any spinning is not a good thing. An electric locker is the way to go for this application, that way it can be locked only when needed and no wear and tear cruising down the highway.

Detroit TruTrac. No clutches or cones. Differential can be preloaded with a little brake pressure to get both axles to lock if needed.

I have had both lockers and limited slip. For use on a boat ramp I think either would work. Only pluss to a locker to me is it is positive, sometimes the limited slip didnt always work that great... esepcial after 16 years and 200K miles or more, but the locker did every time.
