I told my kid that we're in a recession and Santa couldn't afford the new mandatory health insurance so he had to lay off most of his elves. Then the EPA crapped on his toy factory for producing too much Co2 and shut it down and now he's being sued in federal court by the Dept of Labor for not allowing a union vote.
All in all, we don't worry about Santa now and I've made a conservative voter for the future. Now that is funny right there.

What do you expect? - it's a sporting goods store not the freakin North Pole. They only know how to market Christmas when it makes them a profit. I'll probably still be dropping a load of my cash there though.

How dare a large sporting goods store deprive anyone of seeing Santa Claus! They should completely clear out their inventory and get 5 or 6 St. Nicks to appease the angry masses bearing pitchforks!
Wait til KVD hears of this! He'll be in a Ranger over at Cabela's before Valentine's Day!

In the past, parents would stand in line with their kids for hours just to get the photo with Santa. Now they can shop and be back at a certain time to get photos with Santa. It is a really smart move by Bass Pro Shops and I'm sure the parents that had to wait in line forever are glad that they can roam around the store, shop and engage the kids in other activities. And Bass Pro is the ultimate store for fishermen. No other store rivals it. No other store has the quantity of fishing equipment you find there, all under one roof. Sure, Walmart has lower prices, but also a much more limited selection. I think the customer service at the Garland store is excellent. Bart Armstrong + 1 on that but there outragous priceing shows that they are also. The only time I go there is if I need it right now other wise it comes from Tacklewarehouse.

Those passes set up schedule so Santa gets his beer and smoke break on time. I THINK! He's probably in the union.

Sorry your kids didn't get to see Santa, but the pass deal is a HUGE Improvement over standing in line.
Before they started doing this, the line took up the entire boat area and you'd have to stand in line for hours. If you already had enough people ahead of you that you wouldn't have been able to see him that day, wouldn't you rather find out at the start?
Would you have preferred to stand in line for 4 hours only to find out that Santa's time was up before you got to the front of the line?
The Santa pass is an improvement in customer service. If you'd gotten there earlier you would have gotten a pass for a certain time to come back. Then you and your kids could spend your day doing something other than standing in line.

It keeps Santa from having to stay there to appease the angry mobs until 2am!! It's frustrating, but a great way to organize santas time! Ps! The same thing happened to us with the pass and we were mad as heck. Went to talk to the manager and he explained it! Luck was with us as some lady handed my wife her pass as she couldn't wait any longer. Can't get too mad for something "free". I do agree that there should have been some type of warning before the shock and awe once you tried to enter the line!

I am sorry to hear some complaints in regards to the Santa policy at BPS. As an employee of the store I see first hand the situation. I cannot believe the number of people who have come from as far away as 200 miles to see Santa. The gentleman who has that job is a great person and takes very few breaks and just barely gets time to scarf down some food, get something to drink and cool off a little out of that hot suit. Even during the week Santa's Wonderland is always packed. I really believe they could have a Santa 12 hours straight 7 days a week and still have unhappy people that couldn't get to see him. I hate to hear even one unhappy person but at least I have heard from tons of happy kids and parents who did get to expierence seeing Santa and getting a picture. One thing I have also learned is that I have never worked in a job where from the general manager all the way down to the last person is customer service been more important as it is at BPS. Sometimes there are probably just not enough help for the number of customers but everyone I have been in contact with especially in the fishing department loves the part of the job that deals with helping with customers as best we can.

Use your 'option'! Shop somewhere else! I have no affiliation with BPS, but I would bet, if a poll were taken, more folks would welcome BPS into their community than not. As for Santa, I bet there are more Santas in the metro today, than there were mexicans at the Alamo! And, I thought we were not allowed to come on here and bash a company, or individual, just to vent our frustrations. I didn't get cheese on my Whataburger today either.....but d@mn.......I'm gonna' live..........

The Santa pass is an improvement in customer service. If you'd gotten there earlier you would have gotten a pass for a certain time to come back. Then you and your kids could spend your day doing something other than standing in line. +1 The pass is a huge improvement over last year, when we waited about an hour and a half. This new system is awesome! I went right after thanksgiving. I got a pass, shopped for 20 minutes, went down and waited in line for 10 minutes and got our picture made. BPS doesn't owe anyone a picture with Santa, they put him there for the kids. If they've already got kids lined up full time til Santa's done for the day, at least they tell you up front that there aren't any more openings. How else do you want them to handle it? Staff 2 or 3 or 4 Santa Clauses? Malls don't even do that. People's demands are getting a little ridiculous!

I guess it must have been the bass pro you went to. We live in east texas and go to the one in shreveport. This is our third year to go. We actually went twice this year, once with my son than took some of our friends kids a second time. Both times there wasn't much of a line and were never asked for a pass. Heck my son was a little scared of santa the first time and the lady took three different pics until they got a good one of him and gave us all three takes. We then spent the next 4 hours playing with the trains, race cars, mud trucks and all of the arts and crafts and shooting games they had set up. We have enjoyed their santa setup every year and plan to continue to go until my son grows out of that stage.
