Had the chance to take the new yak out on the water for the 1st time today. I entered the yak the 1st time successfully without getting wet. My 1st cast, I forgot about the pole in the holder behind me and smacked it, and sent my brand new chrome sexy shad flying. Decided to tie a spinner bait on and toss it around. Pulled in the 1st fish for the new yak! and 1st fish on the spinner bait. Was a pretty good day, that was the only thing I caught but I was still happy. It looks good in the water. And it looks good on the Jeep.

Congrats on the great 1st!!! As you get more experience taking the kayak out you will have many more first. You will also learn where your other rods are .

And tree location. And life jacket location, And tackle box................... LOL. And I wouldn't have it any other way. Just wait till you get a 5lber on in that kayak. It'll all be worth it.

Ok maybe someone can tell memwhat I'm doin wrong. While paddling I always seemed to throw water on myself from the the blade that's in the air. I'm assuming my stroke is messed up but I'm not too sure.

Ok maybe someone can tell memwhat I'm doin wrong. While paddling I always seemed to throw water on myself from the the blade that's in the air. I'm assuming my stroke is messed up but I'm not too sure. Its a wet sport, dude. This time of year, a waterproof jacket goes a long way. Also, stick with the "box" to help your stroke. Just put your elbows at 90 degrees and your forearms at 90 degrees to the paddle and try and rotate your body around that position as much as possible. Paddle goes into the water near your foot and comes out at your but. I know it sounds strange, but give it a shot. Makes paddlin' a ton easier. And from a fellow newbie, WELCOME! -Poo
